The Principal
Ali Martins has held the role of Principal Consultant/Director and Manager of OH&S since 1995. She has been directly involved in the provision of comprehensive safety and health consultancy to industries that include Renewable Power, Bio-Science, Mining (surface & underground), Mining Exploration, Electrical Contractors, Power Generation, Medico-legal, Up-stream oil and gas, Construction, Ship maintenance contractors and several other heavy industrial contract service companies.

Prior to pursuing private consultancy, Ali held roles such as: -
  • OH&S Adviser for Shell Australia - Western Zone (WA & NT),
  • OH&S Co-ordinator and Occupational Health Nurse.
Her background experience has been predominantly based in the private sector in Western Australia and the Northern Territory, in industries that include the following:-
  • Construction,
  • Brewing,
  • Down Stream Petro-chemicals (Terminal, Distributorships, Service Stations, Depots and Outports),
  • Aviation,
  • Mining Exploration,
  • Mining (open cut & underground),
  • Medico-Legal,
  • Power Generation,
  • Wool Scouring,
  • Tank Construction,
  • Tank Cleaning,
  • Bitumen Applications (storage, transport, spraying, blending etc.), and
  • Welding Operations.
Alison has previously held the position of President of the Occupational Health Society of Australia (WA) Inc. She served on the Executive body of this professional association for several years and actively participated in working parties addressing Draft OSH publications, i.e WorkSafe WA OSH Act and Regulations, Manual Handling Code of Practice etc.

Alison brings a strong management focus to the consultancy with demonstrated success in marketing difficult safety and health issues, facilitation of Risk Assessment and proven performance in applied safety and health training.

Alison worked as a registered nurse for 6 years both in the metropolitan and country areas prior to Occupational Health and Safety practice in industry.

Consultants

Stephen Lewis
Stephen has over 8 years experience in establishing, maintaining safety management systems with proven results. He also has facilitated Occupational Safety and Health in manufacturing, mining (open cut and underground), petroleum and construction industries. Stephen has wide ranging skills in policy and procedural development, problem solving, training, compliance inspections, rehabilitation, machine guarding and health assessments. Previous positions held include:
  • Safety and Health Coordinator,
  • Occupational Health, Safety and Training Coordinator,
  • Occupational Health Nurse
He has experience in setting up complete safety, rehabilitation and management systems in large and small companies.

Stephen has assisted two organisations meet the criteria for WorkSafe Gold Certificate demonstrating the successful implementation of a Safety Management System.

Shirley Welch
With over 15 years experience in the provision of safety and health services to industries that include, Mining (surface & underground), Bauxite and Gold Processing Refineries, Mining Exploration, Rail Transport, Construction, Power Generation, and Pharmaceutical. Shirley has extensive experience in OSH training, inspections, workplace assessments, audits rehabilitation and health management systems.

Contract Personnel

OH&S have a select group of contract consultants who are qualified as Occupational Nurse’s, Paramedic’s and Safety Advisors. These personnel can be called upon for relief, short-term and long-term positions. All of these personnel have various experience and relevant qualifications across different industries.
