Course Intention: This course is intended to assist all personnel in the organisation in the handling of hazardous substances and dangerous goods. This course is developed in accordance with the client's operational needs.
|
| Learning Objectives and Outcomes: |
- Recall & maintain a working knowledge of the legislative references, guidelines, codes of practice & Australian Standards that manage the safe handling & storage of Dangerous Goods & Hazardous Substances in the workplace;
- Identify the hazards of Dangerous Goods & Hazardous Substances;
- Demonstrate knowledge of organisations Dangerous Goods & Hazardous Substances procedure;
- Define & explain the difference between a Hazardous Substance and a Dangerous Good;
- Recognise & demonstrate use of the three Chemical related ‘Registers’ on site;
- List what information can be found on an MSDS, where to access an MSDS and when to refer to an MSDS;
- List at least 4 items that are required on a label;
- Recall & explain safe working practices relating to storage, handling & disposal of Dangerous Goods & Hazardous Substances;
- Explain what spill control is; and
- Explain event monitoring during instances of 3rd party contamination of the work environment.
