Course Intention: The extended JSA course has been designed to prepare all levels of supervision and operators with the knowledge and skill necessary to prepare a quality Job Safety Analysis (JSA) and for supervision to be competent in managing the JSA program. In addition, the one-day course will enable:
Field Supervision to:- Analyse critical jobs using the step approach and by directly involving the workers in the analysis;
- Evaluate the JSA’s and reach decisions on effective Risk Control strategies;
- Incorporate appropriate control actions into Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s).
Managers to:- Prepare a realistic Job Priority List;
- Plan the JSA Program;
- Monitor the progress of the JSA Program;
- Monitor the quality of the JSA’s and SOP’s, incorporating effective risk control.

| Learning Objectives and Outcomes: |
This course is designed to heighten participants’ awareness of the inherent risks of simple job tasks and the required control measures to follow to minimise their impact. Participants will be able to:- Demonstrate an understanding of the JSA process and technique by producing a quality JSA
- Recall the different methods of doing JSA’s
- Have a sound understanding about concepts of Hazard Management and limiting risk
- Apply the JSA Process to identified job tasks in their workplace
- Know what to do with a completed JSA
- Understand the concept of a “Critical Job Priority List”
- Generate a Critical Job Priority List
- Understand the principles associated with developing Standard Operating Procedures for all critical tasks
