Course Location: 

All OH&S Consulting training is performed face to face at your premises or a Training Venue can be arranged (at an additional fee).

 
Course Intention: 

To provide key personnel with the necessary skills to effectively recognise performance issues related to the misuse of alcohol and drugs in the workplace and implement
appropriate management strategies.

 

All attendees will receive a certificate of attendance.

 

Learning Objectives & Outcomes: 
  • At the end of the training, supervisors will have a heightened awareness of the dangers of alcohol and drug abuse and be able to:

  • Recognise the link between poor performance and alcohol and/or drug abuse.

  • Identify the progression of the disease of addiction.

  • Recognize workplace problems that may be related to alcohol and other drugs.

  • Intervene in problem situations.

  • Refer employees who have problems with alcohol and other drugs.

  • Protect employee confidentiality.

  • Continue to supervise employees who have been referred to assistance.

  • Avoid enabling and supervisor traps.

  • Understand the effects of alcohol on performance, what is a standard drink and facts and myths on alcohol consumption.

  • Understand the short and long term effects of common Psychoactive Drugs on the individual and their impact on performance.

  • Assistance – Employee Assistance Program.

  • Continued Supervision, Do’s & Don’ts, Traps.

  • Specific drugs of abuse.

  • Facts & Myths on Alcohol and its effects on performance.

  • Facts on Psychoactive Drugs and its effects.
